Political Science and Digital Diplomacy
Goals
Develop the student’s awareness of contemporary theories of political science and diplomacy.
Provide students with an understanding of digital diplomacy and its role in political science and other fields.
Provide students with knowledge of emerging technologies used in digital diplomacy.
Enable the students to develop digital diplomacy initiatives that positively impact the reputation of an organization or government.
Strengthen the student’s ability to use traditional and new media in digital diplomacy efforts to communicate effectively.
Strengthen the student’s communication skills for use in dispute resolution of complex diplomatic conflicts.
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOME
Demonstrate knowledge of the actors, institutions and processes of political science and diplomacy.
Examine the functions of traditional diplomacy, public diplomacy and digital diplomacy in political science and international relations.
Demonstrate proficiency in the fundamental technological principles and practices of digital diplomacy.
Formulate policies and practices that help promote the digital transformation of traditional diplomacy for governments, non-government organizations and corporations.
Utilize social media and other forms of digital media to manage the reputation and image of an organization or government.
Develop the ability to communicate strategically using effective persuasion techniques to resolve conflict.
Develop leadership skills in managing digital diplomacy campaigns when working with the media and the community.
