Under the auspices of Jenin Governor, Arab American University and the Ministry of Agriculture celebrated Arbor Day by organizing activities of planting olive trees in AAUP Campus.
Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri- the University President, Major General Mr. Akram Rjoub- Jenin Governor, Eng. Bara Asfour- Representing the Board of Directors and the Assistant to the President, Dr. Salem Abu Khayzaran- Representing the Board of Trustees, Eng. Basim Hammad- Representative from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Director of the Directorate of Agriculture in Jenin, Dr. Hassan Yassin- the VP for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Mo’ayad Abu Saa- the VP for the Academic Affairs, participants from Jenin Governorate and faculties and staff members of Arab American University all celebrated the international Arbor Day in AAUP- Jenin Campus.
In his speech, Jenin Governor- Mr. Akram Rjoub thanked all who participated in this activity and said: “Planting the blessed olive trees in this event is a clear message that we are staying in this land no matter what and we believe in our rights in this land.” He expressed that olive trees are symbol for the Palestinian struggle and they represent a peace message to the whole world.
Prof. Abu Zuhri thanked the Ministry of Agriculture and Jenin Governor for joining this activity and expressed his happiness that AAUP hosted this initiative to celebrate the international Arbor Day. Prof. Abu Zuhri explained that AAUP will always open its doors to all kinds of national and formal activities, wishing everyone to stay safe and that our lives will get back to being normal in Palestine and the whole world.
Dr. Hasan Yassin explained that the olive trees that are being planted will be holding the names of martyrs, prisoners, jenin Governor, the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Faculties of AAUP and the Student Council, and those are symbolic names that have special connotations to the occasion of the international Arbor Day.
