On the occasion of the 16th anniversary of the death of Yasser Arafat, Arab American University hosted a seminar that was organized by the student council and Student movement in the Arab American University and Al Quds Open University in Jenin.
The seminar was attended by Brigadier-General Tawfik Tirawi –Fatah Central Committee Member, Mr. Akram Rjoub- Jenin Governor, Dr. Hassan Yassin – the VP for Administrative and Financial Affairs and some members of the student council and students of the university.
At the beginning of the seminar, the VP Dr. Hassan Yasin welcomed the guests and ensured that Arab American University will always encourage the activities, seminars, cultural and scientific conferences and all sport and political conferences in order to create well-educated generation.
Mr. Rjoub – Jenin Governor stressed on the importance of such activities that will help the coming generation to understand the Palestinian cause and protect the Palestinian narrative and history and pass it from generation to another.
Brigadier-General Tawfik Tirawi –Fatah Central Committee Member praised Arab American University for being a great scientific edifice that gathers all Palestinians, and ensured that it is a huge responsibility on AAUP to care to raise awareness in the youth generation about the Palestinian symbols alongside the modern education that students gain.
Mr. Tirawi also talked about the old days for him with the late President Yasser Arafat, days full of challenges and constant clashes with the Israeli occupation. He also described Abu Ammar’s vision for freedom, and talked about the reasons for his assassination and how he stood in the face of international conspiracies to end the Palestinian cause.
Mr. Tirawi also talked about Joe Biden winning the election and said: “We should not wait for new policies from the new president that support the Palestinian cause” and added: “Trump will put some policies that no other president can change”.
At the end of his speech, Mr. Tirawi ensured that the Palestinian people are currently living the worst political stage of the history of their cause.
