The Faculty of Nursing in Arab American University organized a scientific day for the trainers of the practical training in the governmental, private hospitals and the medical centers, in order to discuss the quality and safety of the practical training and its related laws and regulations, and to see how the communication is done through the university’s Edugate.
The scientific day was opened by a speech of Prof. Mohammad Asia- the VP for Medical Schools Affairs as he welcomed the 250 trainers who attended from the different governmental and local hospitals. He thanked them for coming and appreciated their efforts in enhancing the skills of the nursing students through the practical training stages, and he explained that the trainers have all the needed experience to be capable to deliver the knowledge and skills to help in graduating well-qualified students who will be able to provide their services to the citizens.
Prof. Asia also lectured about the quality and safety of the practical training presenting many models that the audience interacted with.
In the speech of the Faculty of Nursing, Dr. Imad Khader- the Assistant to the VP for Medical Schools Affairs talked about the continuous development in the Faculty ensuring that the Faculty aims to reach to the virtual reality in training the nursing students during their study years. He added that the Faculty has already prepared simulation labs five years ago and that those labs had a positive impact in enhancing students’ skills in clinical nursing and clinical training.
The General Director of Nursing in the Ministry of Health, Ms. Najat Dwaikat stressed on the importance of the strategic relation that connects the Ministry with the university and the Faculty of Nursing in specific and explained that the different universities and ministries participate annually aiming to develop nursing profession and to graduate qualified students who will be capable to serve the Palestinian citizen in all hospitals and medical centers by providing the best services and health care.
The scientific day also included a lecture about the laws and regulations of the practical training that was lectured by Dr. Sajed Ghawadra- the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Nursing. Moreover, trainers in the governmental and private hospitals were provided by models and updates of evaluating students during the practical training stages.
Mr. Abdulmonem Abu Hassan- the Programming Director in AAUP presented a detailed presentation about how to use the Edugate of the university “the Portal” by trainers and he showed them all the updates in the system.
The Scientific Day session included some lectures, as for instance, Dr. Dalya Touqan a lecture about the foundations of Nursing, and Dr. Baha Hammad talked about the health of adults 1, where Dr. Imad Fashafsheh lectured about the health of adults 2. Furthermore, Dr. Basma Salameh- talked about the health of adults 3, and Dr. Faeda Qtait presented the topic of maternity health. Dr. Ahmad Ayade talked about Children health and Dr. Raja Zyoud lectured about Management in Nursing, while Dr. Abeer Hassan focused on the topic of the society health. The scientific day was concluded by a lecture by Dr. Sajed Khawadreh who talked about the mental and physical health.
At the end of the activities of the scientific day, the VP of Arab American University and the General Director of Nursing in the Ministry of Health honored the training managers with trophies for their effort and role in enhancing the communication between the university and the Ministry of Health.
