Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri- the Arab American University President visited Al Azhar University in Gaza, and in his reception was Dr. Khalil Abu Alfoul- the Acting Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Ahmad Altyan- the University President, Dr. Naser Abu Al Ata- the Chairman of the Follow-up Committee of the College of Intermediate Studies and a member in the Board of Trustees of the university, Eng. Hatem Abu Shaaban- the Board of Trustees Secretary and Prof. Omar Milad- the VP for Academic Affairs.
The purpose of this visit is to provide financial support that was donated by AAUP staff to the students who were impacted by the Israeli attack on Gaza, in May 2021.
Prof. Abu Zuhri and Prof. Ahmad Altyan- Al Azhar University President went to Hani AlShawwa Hall in Al Jaleel Building where the financial support grants were given to students. The ceremony was attended by the President of Islamic University, the President of Al Aqsa University, the President of Palestine University, the President of Al Israa University, the VP of Al Quds Open University for Gaza Affairs, Gaza University VP for Academic Affairs and the students.
Ceremony started by the national anthem and Fatiha on the souls of martyrs.
In his speech, Prof. Abu Zuhri welcomed the university presidents and guests and transferred the greetings of the staff and faculty of Arab American University who donated a working day wage to students who were impacted by the latest Israeli attack on Gaza. He also talked about the suffering of the Palestinian people because of the division and ensured that the next step must be ending this division and restoring Palestinian unity and said: “we are with you until this siege ends and this division that hurt the Palestinian cause comes to an end”.
Prof. Altyan welcomes the presidents of the universities and Prof. Abu Zuhri and said: “This generous donation and support for the faculty and staff of Arab American University is an affirmation that we are one people, our destiny is one, and our blood is one”, and appreciated the kind and generous gesture.
The financial supports were given to students.
