AAUP Receives Minister of Women's Affairs to Brief Her on the University's Achievements and Discuss Cooperation

Acting President of the University, Dr. Bara Asfour, has received Minister of Women's Affairs, Ms. Mona Al-Khalili, who visited the University to know about it, its academic programs and research centers, as well as to discuss prospects for cooperation in implementing programs of common interest.

The reception was attended by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Hazem Khanfar, Assistant President of the University for Community Affairs, Dr. Laila Herzallah, Director of Public Relations, Mr. Firas Saifi, and Activities Officer in the Public Relations Department, Ms. Samah Dawahdeh. The Minister was accompanied by the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Mr. Daoud Al-Deek, and a number of the Ministry's staff, the Youth Affairs Officer and Women's Affairs Staff Coordinator in Jenin, Iman Nazzal, and a member of the Revolutionary Council of the Fatah Movement, Wafaa Afif.

During the meeting, Dr. Asfour gave a detailed explanation of the University, its objectives, vision, various faculties, and academic programs for bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. He stressed that the University is keen to provide a distinguished and modern learning environment that meets the needs of students, in addition to providing them with the latest sciences with advanced teaching methods and in laboratories equipped with the best modern educational means.

Dr. Asfour stressed that the University attaches great importance to the role of Palestinian women, pointing out that they have played a fundamental and important role since the establishment of the University, and have held many administrative and academic positions. Women have the competence and energies that qualify them for this, and that the vision of the University administration is that the partnership between men and women is essential, necessary, and complementary to achieve academic quality and enhance construction.

For her part, the Minister thanked the warm welcome and expressed her admiration for the University, its programs, and the diversity among its students, who represent the various cities, villages, and camps of historic Palestine. She pointed out that the University is a model to be emulated in enhancing the role of women and giving them their full rights in management and leadership. She also spoke about mechanisms and ways to enhance cooperation through implementing student programs and activities that work to enhance citizenship, belonging, women's rights, and others.
