the ending of the first annual graduate school research conference at the university campus – Ramallah, sponsored by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Abu Mowais. the conference was organized by Faculty of Graduate Studies, Deanship of Scientific Research with the partnership of Policy and Conflict Resolutions Studies Center at AAUP.
The ending of the first annual graduate school research conference at the university
The Conference was opened by Professor John Dogger an expert in technology and professional services management, Prof John has more than 53 papers published in scientific journals, and advisor in excellent scientific research for graduate students, as he mentioned the methods of writing a research problem, especially as most of the research focuses mainly on Statistical analysis and quantitative data.
He explained that many graduate students face problems in determining the research problem, as this came from his experience as an examiner and supervisor of serval thesis in MA and PhD degrees. as he explained more about how and the methods of scientific research.
After that students were distributed into four halls to present their research and papers, in each session three students are able to defense their researches in front of the judging committee in all different fields
The dean of Faculty of Graduate Studies Dr. Abdel-Rahman said that this this conference aims graduate students, 45 researchers who have completed their theses and projects and have published part of their thesis and researches in refereed scientific journals. He added that, students will present their research, and will be judged by a professional academic committee of the conference.
he added that the external examiners have been chosen very carefully each according to the preforming specializations to properly judge within professional standards.
The Conclusion
Dr. Hanadi Dweikat, member of the preparatory committee of the conference said that the university continues to give high importance to new researches and supports the field of scientific research, AAUP allocates an amount of $ 400 thousand to support research, including $ 130 thousand for internal projects of faculty members, and $ 70,000 for two research groups of academic staff, as well as supporting students researched and projects.
Adding that AAUP had gave awards worth $ 700 for publishing in international scientific journals for each research published, in addition to a number of awards, including $ 12 thousand for the Excellence award for academic scientific Research from Palestinian universities for three mainly categories: natural and technological sciences, health and medical sciences, and science. For the second award was for the best research published in the AAUP Journal worth 22 thousand dollars each year, where researchers won the award from Portugal, Syria, Libya and Palestine.
As she added that the university gives high importance in international relations and building bridges with universities and international research centers so students and even faculty members can complete their research careers.
Recommendations
Dr. Hanadi recommended to organize and hold a second annual graduate school research conference for Palestinian Universities so it can be available for all students in all specializations. Create a preparatory committee for the next conference to include members from other Palestinian universities to enrich the judging process. Publish a special edition for all excellent researches in AAUP Scientific Journal after a second evaluation.
she added that lecturers should encourage scientific research and academic publishing among their students during teaching their courses. Creating research partnerships and practical experiences among Palestinian students from different universities to make joint researches and exchange experiences, in addition to students and academic exchange with other countries. last but least benefit from the external and internal funding programs that enhances practical writing and proposal writing among students, and build capabilities of students and researchers in this field.
Announcing the Wining Researches
They have been divided to two categories, first was poster category the winners were: Khetam Abu Hadiya, and Lama Kasrawi, each was awarded with $ 500.
The second category was researches, where each winner was awarded 1,000 dollars they are: Aseel Ekmail, Mohammed Kilani, Ibrahim Yahya, Rula Shahwan, Asma Kharoub, Shaima Bakri, Rida Khoury, Suhaila Abu Ghosh, and Maisam Abdullah.
