Dr. Yousef Asfour- the Founding Chairman of the Board of Directors visited Arab American University – Jenin Campus to check the achievements and projects of the University.
Dr. Asfour visited the prosthetics factory which is the first of its kind in Palestine and the Arab area, and visited the modern autopsy laboratories in the Faculty of Medicine and the e-learning center laboratories as well.
In his tour around the campus, Dr. Asfour was accompanied by Dr. Moayad Abu Saa- the Acting President of the University and the VP for Academic Affairs, Prof. Mohammad Asia- the VP for Medical Schools Affairs, Ms. Manar Abu Sbaa- the VP for Administrative Affairs, Deans of the Faculties and Heads of Departments.
Dr. Asfour visited the prosthetics factory that is about to be fully prepared and equipped to be launched, and he listened to a detailed explanation of the director of the factory, Mr. Waleed Abu Samra and to Prof. Asia about the stages and divisions of the factory, the tasks of each department and how work is being done. This factory will cover the needs and demands of the Palestinian market and will also export prosthetics to some Arab countries. Moreover, this factory will train the students of this specialization on how to build prosthetics, and will provide qualified and distinguish graduates to work in this field in the Arab and global markets.
Dr. Asfour expressed his appreciation to the efforts of people in charge of this factory and ensured that this will be an excellent project and a new achievement of AAUP that will serve its students as well as the local and Arab communities. He also added that AAUP always seeks excellence in its programs and in its unique and huge projects at the Middle East level.
In his tour, Dr. Asfour checked the modern autopsy laboratories in the Faculty of Medicine and listened to and explanation about the laboratories from Dr. Imad Dwaikat- the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine as he talked about the international standards and specifications of the laboratories and the modern technology in the teaching style. The tour continued to reach the e-learning center laboratories to see the modern devices in them.
At the end of the tour, Dr. Asfour expressed how proud he is with the efforts of the staff of AAUP and said: “when I visit the University and meet people here from employees to faculty members and staff, I can feel their belonging to the university and how AAUP is a leader on the local and regional levels”. He also asked them to keep up the hard work and to always support the university and its facilities and said “our goal is clearly stated, we want a contemporary, global and model university and a never-ending factory to refine Palestinian minds and graduate excellent, distinguish and creative graduates who will be able to build a better future to our people and be ambassadors of education for the whole world”.
