Ministry of Education & Arab American University sign an agreement to Train Occupational Therapy Students at Schools

The Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Sabri Sidem and the President of Arab American University, Dr. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri, signed a cooperation agreement, containing training Graduate students specialized in occupational therapy within a number of the Ministry's schools in the West Bank.

The Undersecretary Dr. Othman Saleh, Assistant Undersecretary for Higher Education Dr. Ehab Al-Qubaj, attended the signing ceremony.  In addition of Dean of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences and Nursing Dr. Mohammed Assia, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences for Training and Laboratories Jumana Daeibes, General Director of International and Public Relations Nadeem Sami, General Director of Guidance and Special Education Mohammad Al Hawash and Dr. Murad Murshd from Special Education Department.

Dr. Siddam from his side assured the keenness of the Ministry of Education to improve the quality of education, and its outputs, also to support educational environments to enhance Palestinian education. Mentioning that the Ministry pays great attention to students with learning difficulties and special needs and works on integrating them into the educational system and providing them with psychological, academic and social support, explaining that education does not exclude students regardless of their individual differences, and the difficulties they may face.

Dr. Abu Zuhri also said that the university is always working on enhancing university education from various theoretical and practical aspects through adopting the best means and modern educational methods. As he assured that occupational therapy program contributes greatly to the development of physical, sensory, mental, cognitive, psychological and social abilities, which will help the school students to improve their academic performance, integration and interaction with school environments through the cooperation with the educational staff whom works with the students.

The two parties agreed to strengthen the efforts and coordination in common areas according by national laws and legislation, which focuses on schools and its personals of students and teachers. Including in the agreement, the Ministry of Education opens the doors of its schools through the resource rooms for students trainees under the supervision of  specialists from the university were they will carry out the agreed tasks of evaluating, consulting, planning individual and group therapy according to each case, and applying assessments to detect new cases and other related activities.
