Prof. Mahmoud Abu Mwais- the Minster of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research visited Arab American University in Jenin to review its developmental plans and programs on both the academic and research levels.
In his reception was Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri- the University President, his Vice President, his Assistants, Some of the Deans of the Faculties and members of the Academic and Administrative Staff as they received him and his accompanied delegation from the Ministry, some of the General Directors, Heads of Units and Consultants.
Prof. Abu Mwais praised the development that AAUP has reached from the academic programs to the infrastructure, and praised its excellence in scientific research. He wished to the university and to all higher education organizations more development.
Moreover, Prof. Abu Mwais emphasized that the Ministry is keen to support all the Palestinian Higher Education Organizations and stressed on the importance of enhancing the educational outputs and the scientific research that serves the Palestinian community and contributes in achieving comprehensive sustainable development.
The Minister also talked about how the Ministry put special focus on the enhancing of the integrative academic and educational programs that combine between the theoretical and practical training education in the private sector. He also mentioned that the Ministry is keen to develop and modernize the academic programs and to open new qualitative ones.
Furthermore, Prof. Abu Mwais said that the Ministry is keen to support and promote the qualitative scientific research stressing on the importance of focusing on the higher education institutions in order to enhance the research and the academic mobility partnership with other universities around the world. He also emphasized on the guidance of the technical education students as this sector is of a great importance to provide new job positions and limit the unemployment averages.
Prof. Abu Zuhri welcomed Prof. Abu Mwais and the accompanied delegation from the Ministry and said that this visit has great indications that reflect the keen of the Ministry of “Higher Education” in the University and all the higher education organizations as well.
Prof. Abu Zuhri praised the developmental efforts that the Ministry is doing in the higher education sector and reviewed with Abu Mwais the programs and plans of the university and its achievements especially regarding the scientific research and researchers, and the focus on the qualitative programs.
The recent achievements of the university were also mentioned, as Prof. Abu Zuhri talked about the prosthetics factory that will be opened soon, the preparation of the rehabilitation health city that provide services to both students who need training and services to the local community, in addition to preparing labs that serve the engineering, medical and scientific faculties in the university as those labs will be provided with modern devices of international specifications. Prof. Abu Zuhri also mentioned the university partnership relations internationally and its presence globally.
During this visit, Prof. Abu Mwais and Prof. Abu Zuhri and the accompanied delegation opened the e-learning center laboratories and a new Dentistry clinical lab. Then the delegation had a tour around the university buildings including the Faculty of Dentistry, the Faculty of Medicine, the anatomy lab, the Faculty of Pharmacy, the prosthetics factory and the rehabilitation center in the Faculty of Medical Sciences.
