UN Women has chosen a professor from AAUP to represent Palestine in a high-level international symposium in Rome that aims to enhance the participation of women in the decision making processes.

UN Woman, the global champion for women, has chosen Dr. Dalal Iriqat - a professor in the Conflict Resolution and Strategic Planning programs in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in AAUP to represent Palestine in the high-level international seminar in Rome.

The United Nation Body for gender equality and women empowerment (UN Women) has organized an international symposium focusing on enhancing the participation of women in the decision making and peace processes.

In this international seminar that was organized by the UN woman under collaboration with the Italian Ministry of foreign affairs, 140 women have represented the world. Palestine was represented by Dr. Amal Jado – the Undersecretary of the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Dr. Dalal Iriqat- a professor in AAUP, and they both are members in the Mediterranean Women Mediators Network (MWMN)

The meeting has gathered women from the whole world; some of those women are representatives of the regional mediator networks, others are officials from the member countries, or representatives of the international organizations and some are from academic fields. They were gathered to discuss the mechanisms of implementing decision 1325 issued by the Security Council on 2000 that focuses on women role in equality, moderating, decision making and peace processes.
