The University Organizes an Introductory Lecture About "Samaritan Community"

The University organized a lecture for its students about the Samaritan community living in Palestine, in order to introduce them to the oldest community in the world and their customs and traditions, hosted by the Samaritan community priest and director of the Samaritan Museum in Nablus the priest Husni Wassef.

The lecture was opened by the president assistant for Community Affairs Dr. Iyad Delbah, welcoming the attendees, as he pointed out that the Samaritan community is part of the Palestinian community, where in this lecture the students are introduced to the Samaritan community, their customs and traditions.

The priest of the Samaritan community Husni Wassef thanked Arab American University for hosting him, as he assured the importance of the communication between the Palestinian universities and the community. Noting that this community has been living at Mount Gerzim in Nablus for more than 3,500 years, they believe in the Israeli doctrine which it is the true bloodline of the Israeli people, assuring that this community is not Jewish and that Mount Gerzim is the holy place mentioned in Torah and not as mentioned in the Jewish Bible which deviated that Jerusalem is the holy place, also there is around 7000 difference between the Jewish bible and the Samaritan Bible. Addressing that the Samaritan Museum which was recently build at Mount Gerzim reflects the full picture of the community, their customs and traditions.

One of the workers at the Samaritan Museum the Priest Abdullah, who wore the costume of the sect, gave an explanation of their customs and traditions especially about their holy day – holy Saturday.
