The University Organizes an Introductory Meeting for Rehabilitation Teams in Jenin and Tubas Governorates About Children Rehabilitation and Aqua Therapy Centers

The Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences in the University organizes an introductory meeting about Children Rehabilitation and Aqua Therapy Centers and occupational therapy clinics. To introduce the audience to the services provided by the centers, as well as to strengthen cooperation in order to provide therapeutic services to the community.

With the attendance of the Dean of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences and Nursing, Dr. Mohamed Asia. The directors of the physiotherapy and occupational therapy departments at the university, the faculty members of the college and the rehabilitation workers in the Jenin and Tubas governorates who applied for rehabilitation program based on the local community in the medical relief, and in the Red Crescent and the municipalities.

The Dean of the Faculties of Allied Medical Sciences and Nursing, Dr. Asia, opened the meeting, he welcomed the attendees and assured to the importance of this meeting, which was mainly for the joint cooperation between centers and institutions related in rehabilitation. He pointed out that the rehabilitation centers in physiotherapy and occupational therapy were established for several purposes, Therapeutic and rehabilitation services for patients from the local community, in addition to providing practical training for students of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences.

He added that these centers are the first of its kind in north Palestine. The Childern Rehabilitation Center in the Occupational Therapy Department contains sensory rooms, treatment rooms for children with autism, hyperactivity, difficulties in mental abilities, learning difficulties and academic achievement, children with cerebral palsy, Spinal cord dysplasia and congenital malformations. The second is Aqua Therapy in the physiotherapy department, which provides full rehabilitation services for physiotherapy. It includes a water pool, Jacuzzi rooms, sauna and steam room. It provides treatment for orthopedic diseases, Spinal problems, muscular disorders, neurological problems such as spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, sports injuries, diabetics, and child problems such as Cerebral Palsy and Spinal Cord Injury. These centers and clinics are staffed by physiotherapists and occupational therapy, the university has great experience working in the fields of rehabilitation and treatment of various medical conditions.

The head of the physiotherapy department, Dr. Mohamed Amro, introduced the Aqua therapy center and the physiotherapy clinics. He said, "The center was established to provide physiotherapy services in Jenin and neighboring areas to serve all segments of society." Using the latest equipment, and the best methods, according to what the science has reached in this field.

He pointed out that the center aims to provide high quality treatment services with excellence, honesty, and reasonable cost. Assuring the commitment to search for all the meanings of scientific development, and the use of modern and sophisticated equipment, by a qualified staff, to raise the level of services provided by the Center. The staff follows the latest developments in physiotherapy science, attending many international and local courses, in order to provide all what is new in the treatment plans and meet the needs of the local community. Referring to the services provided by the center and providing appropriate treatment, follow-ups, and conversion clients to the competent authorities if necessary, in addition to raising awareness, education and training.

Dr. Waleed Jarjoura, Head of the Occupational Therapy Department, presented an introduction of Children Rehabilitation Center and Occupational Therapy Clinics. He said that the center was established on July 1 of this year. It aims to cover the needs of children in the North region equipped with a trained staff, to undertake all necessary interventions from children's assessment, preparation of rehabilitation plans, necessary interventions, parent training, environmental adjustments if necessary, and provision of assistive devices such as splinters.

As he added “According to the University's strategy in social responsibility towards this segment of children, we have decided that our prices should be symbolic and competitive for what is in the community," he said, noting that the children targeted are Autism Children, Down syndrome, other syndromes, hyperactivity and attention deficit children, Cerebral palsy, children with difficulties, slow and hard learning, as well as all problems related to delayed motional and mental development.

Last but not least the audience took an introductory tour around the center and clinics of physiotherapy and occupational therapy in the university.
