The Computer Systems Engineering program at the Faculty of Engineering at the Arab American University has obtained the international academic accreditation from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), an independent American body specialized in evaluating and assuring the quality of engineering, technology, and applied science programs worldwide.

Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Hazem Khanfar, stated that the Faculty submitted a self-report on the program on 1/7/2021. The evaluation process started on 10/1/2021. After this evaluation process, a specialized professional academic team from ABET visited the university.

He added that during the evaluation process, the program outputs, curricula, faculty members' competency, students' level, material and human capabilities, and the support provided by the university to the program and the local community was reviewed. The mechanisms for continuous development of the quality of education were also reviewed.

Prof. Dr. Khanfar indicated that the committee expressed at the time, through the initial report, its appreciation of the university. All the evaluation items were positive, so the academic accreditation of the Computer Systems Engineering program from ABET was declared. It was approved retroactively from the date of 1/10/2020 until 30/9/2028, provided that the program is re-evaluated during the academic year 2027/2028, according to the instructions of ABET.
