Researcher Yusra Abdullah Alwan, a student in Accounting and Auditing program the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the Arab American University, has defended her master's thesis, entitled "The Impact of Sustainability Reports on the Market Value of Companies Listed on the Palestine Stock Exchange."

The researcher indicated that the aim of the study was to analyze the impact of sustainability reports, particularly their economic and environmental dimensions, on the market value of companies listed on the Palestine Stock Exchange. The study was conducted between 2018 and 2023 and included a sample of 33 companies from the investment, industrial, and services sectors, excluding the banking and insurance sectors due to their different disclosure and control standards.

The study relied on a quantitative analytical approach using panel data to measure changes at the company level over time. Data was collected from annual financial statements, sustainability reports, and the official website of the Palestine Stock Exchange.

The results, as researcher Alwan explained, showed a statistically significant positive relationship between both the economic and environmental dimensions of sustainability reports and companies' market value. The environmental impact was the strongest, indicating that companies that provide transparent environmental disclosures enjoy greater investor confidence and achieve higher market valuations. Furthermore, it was found that a company's age positively impacts its market value, while the effect of company size was limited in practice.

The researcher recommended that companies listed on the Palestine Exchange adopt comprehensive sustainability strategies that integrate environmental and economic dimensions into their core operations and disclosure practices. The researcher called on decision-makers to impose mandatory sustainability disclosure standards to enhance market transparency.

The researcher advised investors to incorporate sustainability indicators into their investment decisions and recommended future studies to examine the impact of sustainability on other financial indicators such as return on assets and earnings per share.

The study's supervisory committee consisted of Dr. Mohammed Abu Sharbeh, Dr. Mohammed Nazzal, Dr. Rajeh Alawneh, and Professor Zahran Daraghmeh.
