Students Elaf Nuirat, Elias Abdullah, and Bilal Al-Khabas, from the Faculty of Sport Sciences at the Arab American University, presented a research paper, fulfilling the requirements for a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Sciences, titled "The Level of Burnout among Bodybuilding Coaches in Palestine - Jenin Governorate as a Case Study." The research was supervised by Dr. Main Zakarneh, and the examination committee included Dr. Samer Al-Sadi and Dr. Oday Daraghmeh.
The students indicated that the study aimed to identify the level of burnout among bodybuilding coaches in Palestine, particularly in Jenin Governorate, and to uncover its most prominent manifestations through a set of key topics, including occupational stress, physical symptoms, emotional symptoms, as well as cognitive and behavioral symptoms associated with burnout.
The students also indicated that the study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach, deemed most suitable for its nature and objectives. A questionnaire was used as the primary data collection instrument, designed to measure various aspects of burnout, with its validity and reliability verified using appropriate scientific methods.
They explained that the study population consisted of bodybuilding coaches in Palestine. A purposive sample of 25 coaches was selected to directly assess their professional experiences within the sports work environment.
The results showed that the level of burnout among bodybuilding coaches was moderate, with occupational stress registering a mean score. The findings also revealed that the physical symptoms of burnout were moderate, manifesting as fatigue and physical exhaustion resulting from the nature of athletic work.
The study recommended developing specialized programs for managing occupational stress among coaches, providing ongoing professional psychological support, fostering a supportive work environment within sports clubs, and prioritizing a balance between work demands and mental and physical well-being. These measures would contribute to reducing burnout levels and improving the professional and athletic performance of coaches.
