The Arab American University is seeking to hire a “Director for the Prosthetic Limbs Factory”

The applicant is expected to plan, organize, direct and manage all manufacturing and maintenance operations, and to effectively make use of manpower, equipment, facilities, and materials to achieve the objectives of the Factory. In addition, the applicant has to ensure product standards through the implementation of manufacturing strategies and work plans, and work to reduce costs as needed, with the need to use modern technologies. Furthermore, the applicant’s responsibilities include training the technicians on using modern technologies, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the product in order to achieve the interests and objectives of the factory.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. To supervise the achievement of goals and production plans aside with ensuring quality standards of the products.
  2. To plan, organize and direct the manufacturing process and perform daily and periodic maintenance in the Factory.
  3. To supervise the preparation of the annual budgets of the Factory and the proposed operational plans only, and submit them to the administration for approval.
  4. To review the financial reports of the Factory's financial performance and make relevant recommendations to the supreme administration.
  5. To prepare plans for initiatives and operations which reduce the manufacturing costs and contribute to the achievement of the interests of the Factory.
  6. To effectively use manpower, equipment, facilities, and materials, in a way that achieves the planned return.
  7. To submit reports and set plans in cooperation with the work team at the Factory and submit them to the supreme administration.
  8. To conduct research and use advanced technologies to enhance the workflow and product quality.
  9. To determine the requirements of clients and customers and include them in the production and marketing plans of the Factory's products.
  10. To direct the marketing and sales of the Factory to achieve the highest distribution and promotion of the products.
  11. To constantly supervise equipment and devices to raise the production capacity of the Factory, and to develop advanced plans to increase production according to the quality standards.
  12. To approve purchase orders before submitting them to the Supplies and Procurement Office for implementation.
  13. To conduct technical and administrative supervision of the employees and evaluate their performance and achievements as well as review the training programs proposals that raise the level of employees’ knowledge and develop their capabilities.
  14. To control the application and development of occupational safety procedures and to secure their requirements in cooperation with the Quality, safety and Occupational Security Office.
  15. To determine the magnitude of work and employment, identify the needs of the necessary equipment and human resources, and estimate future needs.
  16. To supervise the inspection procedures of the raw materials received from suppliers, and ensure their conformity with specifications.

Minimum Requirements and Skills:

  1. The applicant must have a master's or bachelor's degree in one of the following fields:
    • Business Administration.
    • Engineering Management.
    • Industrial engineering.
    • Any related specialization.
  2. The applicant must have practical experience of no less than 5 years in the management of production / industrial facilities, preferably in the field of medical production factories.
  3. The applicant must have practical experience in managing factory sections / departments, including: managing production operations, quality, supply chains, warehouses, human resources, procurements, and accounting.
  4. The applicant is preferred to have experience in dealing with the university academic environment.
  5. The applicant should be fluent in reading, writing and speaking of Arabic and English.
  6. The applicant should have advanced communication and computer skills.
  7. The applicant should be able to do team management and work under pressure.
  8. The applicant should be able to analyze and face risks as well as perform crisis management.
