The Arab American University seeks to hire an “Information Technology Support Engineer” in the Information Technology Office / Ramallah on a full-time temporary employment contract.

The employee is expected to provide technical support to faculty and administrative staff members as well as students. The employee is also expected to maintain the security and integrity of networks, and ensure the smooth functioning of the university’s technical systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. To provide technical support to the university’s Ramallah campus staff and students regarding hardware and software problems.
2. To configure, set up and maintain IP Phone systems.
3. To configure, set up and maintain surveillance systems, sensors and cameras via the Internet (IP Camera).
4. To configure, set up and maintain network adapters and wireless access points.
5. To configure, set up and maintain the hardware, software and peripherals for the computer.
6. To monitor and troubleshoot network, servers and firewall systems.
7. To ensure data security and integrity through periodic backups and security measures.
8. To collaborate with the central IT team on the university’s Jenin campus to implement and maintain IT policies and procedures.
9. To manage and maintain user accounts, permissions and access rights.
10. To provide assistance supplying information technology equipment and software.
11. To perform regular maintenance and updates on systems and applications.
12. To write reports and instructions related to information technology and including them in the knowledge base.
13. To stay up to date with developments and technologies and submitting proposals for development and improvement.

Qualifications and Skills Required for the Job:

1. Bachelor's degree in computer engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
2. Minimum two years of practical experience as an IT support engineer.
3. Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
4. Knowledge of network protocols and devices (routers, switches, etc.).
5. Technical certifications, such as CCNA, CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, are considered as an advantage.
