Dr. Bahgat Ayasi currently serves as the Assistant to the President for Information Technology Affairs at the Arab American University – Palestine (AAUP), a role he has held since 2015. He earned his Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Jaén, Spain, in 2026, with a dissertation focused on advancing predictive modeling using Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs) .

With over 26 years of experience in academia and IT leadership, Dr. Ayasi has successfully led and supervised more than 100 major IT projects. His expertise spans IT governance, database administration, operating systems, software development across multiple programming languages, and advanced AI and data science frameworks.

His research centers on Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs), particularly their role in energy-efficient computing and predictive modeling. His work contributes to sustainable AI by demonstrating how SNNs can achieve competitive performance while significantly reducing computational cost and energy consumption. His broader research interests include neuromorphic engineering, data science, and intelligent systems.
