Dr Shahenaz Najjar is an assistant professor at the department of health sciences, graduate studies of the Arab American University, Palestine. She is serving as the OWSD-Palestine National Chapter treasurer. Dr Najjar holds a PhD in biomedical sciences from the KU Leuven, Belgium on health policy and health services (2014). She has also a Post-doctoral degree in Population health and health services. Dr Najjar worked as an instructor and researcher at different European universities such as Zuyd University of Applied Sciences_Maastricht/The Netherlands, University of Alcalá, Madrid, Spain, and KU Leuven, Belgium between November 2009 and January 2019. In addition to her academic experience, Dr Najjar worked as a consultant at several companies in Belgium and Palestine in the area of health information systems. Dr Najjar has rich experience in research on quality in healthcare and patient safety, population health, health informatics applications (at several levels; data management and visualization, epidemiological level, population level, prediction models, and others), cancer informatics, access to healthcare and universal health coverage. She has worked on large national and international projects across diverse topics of health informatics and health services and quality in healthcare. Moreover, she serves as a reviewer for different international journals like; BMC health services, BMJ open, Sage and International journal for quality in healthcare. She got several international and national awards for her projects.
