AAUP is committed to a systematic and dynamic planning process that aligns resources, activities, and initiatives with long-term objectives. Through this approach, AAUP seeks to foster innovation, adaptability, and sustained growth in a rapidly evolving environment.

Policy Statement

AAUP is dedicated to the following principles and standards for strategic planning:

  1. Mission, Vision, and Values:

    • AAUP defines and regularly revisits its mission, vision, and core values, ensuring they remain relevant and reflective of its organizational identity and purpose.

       

  2. Environmental Scan and Risk Assessment:

    • AAUP conducts comprehensive environmental scans to identify internal and external factors influencing its organization.

    • AAUP conducts risk assessments to anticipate potential challenges and opportunities that may impact its strategic objectives.

       

  3. Stakeholder Engagement:

    • AAUP actively engages stakeholders, including its academic and administrative staff, students, partners, and the community, to gather diverse perspectives and insights that inform its strategic decisions.

       

  4. Goal Setting and Performance Metrics:

    • AAUP sets clear, measurable, and achievable goals aligned with its mission and vision.

    • AAUP establishes key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor progress toward strategic goals and regularly assess the University’s performance.

       

  5. Resource Allocation and Budgeting:

    • AAUP aligns resource allocation, including financial, human, and technological resources, with its strategic priorities.

    • AAUP integrates strategic goals into the budgeting process, ensuring that financial plans support its long-term objectives.

       

  6. Implementation Plans and Actionable Initiatives:

    • AAUP develops detailed implementation plans that outline specific initiatives, timelines, responsible parties, and performance milestones.

    • AAUP prioritizes actionable initiatives that have a direct impact on achieving strategic objectives.

       

  7. Monitoring and Evaluation:

    • AAUP establishes mechanisms for ongoing monitoring and evaluation of its strategic plan to adapt to changing circumstances.

    • AAUP conducts regular reviews to assess the effectiveness of its strategic initiatives and make data-driven adjustments as needed.

       

  8. Communication and Transparency:

    • AAUP communicates its strategic goals, progress, and outcomes transparently to internal and external stakeholders.

    • AAUP fosters a culture of open communication and engagement, ensuring that staff at all levels understand and contribute to its strategic objectives.

Implementation and Compliance

To ensure the successful implementation of this policy, AAUP will:

  1. Designate Responsibility: Appoint the office of VP for planning, development and quality to oversee the implementation, communication, and monitoring of this policy.
     

  2. Training and Capacity Building: Provide training and capacity-building programs to ensure that staff involved in the strategic planning process understand their roles and responsibilities.
     

  3. Regular Review and Updates: Conduct periodic reviews of the strategic plan to ensure its relevance and alignment with the University goals. Update the plan as necessary based on changing circumstances.
     

  4. Feedback Mechanisms: Establish mechanisms for staff and stakeholders to provide feedback on the strategic planning process, ensuring continuous improvement.

Measures

The following measures (indicators) can be used to assess the utilization of this policy:

  1. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Establish and regularly review KPIs aligned with strategic objectives to quantitatively measure progress and success in implementation.
     

  2. Regular Reviews and Audits: Conduct periodic reviews and audits of the strategic plan's implementation to ensure alignment with organizational goals and responsiveness to changing circumstances.
     

  3. Stakeholder Feedback Mechanisms: Implement feedback mechanisms for stakeholders to provide insights on the effectiveness and relevance of the strategic plan's implementation.
     

  4. Budget Alignment Analysis: Regularly analyze and assess the alignment of budget allocations with strategic priorities to ensure financial resources support the achievement of long-term objectives.
     

  5. Communication Effectiveness: Monitor the effectiveness of communication strategies related to the strategic plan to ensure transparency and understanding among employees and stakeholders.
