As part of the 2024 International Summer School, organized by the Conflict Studies Research Center at the Arab American University and The New School in the United States, which is being held this year in the Jordanian capital, Amman, participating students conducted field visits to a number of important tourist, historical, and cultural sites in Jordan.

These activities are an essential part of the academic courses that students study during the program, as field visits aim to enhance their understanding of the academic theories discussed in lectures and link them to practical real applications.

These visits contribute to providing a comprehensive educational experience through direct interaction with historical and cultural landmarks that reflect the topics of study.

During the visit, students visited many sites, such as the city of Salt, Al-Wihdat Camp, Jabal Al-Qalaa in Amman, Aqaba, and Wadi Rum, as well as important cultural landmarks that reflect Jordan’s rich heritage.

The tour was an opportunity for students to explore the historical and cultural depth of the region, and understand how these factors affect current social and political dynamics.

Students noted that the experience gave them a deeper and clearer view of the topics discussed in the classroom lectures, and provided them with an opportunity to connect theoretical information with practical application and understand contexts in the Middle East.
