Overview

The term "medical imaging" encompasses all fields that involve imaging the internal parts of the human body, including organs, tissues, and internal components, to reach an appropriate diagnosis and then precise treatment.

Medical imaging, previously known as radiology, has seen and continues to develop rapidly due to the accelerating technological advancements, especially in the medical field. This includes using X-ray devices, dental and jaw imaging, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear medicine, and radiation therapy. The first batch was accepted into the department in 2005, and since then, hundreds of radiologic technologists have graduated, working in hospitals, medical centers, research centers, and universities both locally and abroad.

Develop the students’ knowledge and skills in their field of specialty.
Promote a spirit of scientific inquiry amongst the staff and students.
Guide the students’ development of ethical values.
Foster a sense of a professional community amongst the students and those of other departments.
Encourage attitudes of life-long learning, including the pursuit of continuing education opportunities.
Foster professional links with working radiographers and with the Ministry of Health, in order to prepare the department for a leading role in developing good radiation protection practices.
