The Arab American University participated in the events of the Palestinian Conference for Medical Radiology 2026, which was organized earlier, at the Palestinian Red Crescent Society Hotel, in the city of Ramallah, with the participation of specialists, academics, researchers and workers in the fields of medical imaging and radiology from various Palestinian health and academic institutions.
Dr. Ahmed Abu Arra, Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Imaging, represented the Arab American University in the conference, chairing the scientific committee of the conference, in addition to his duties as head of the Academic Council of the Palestinian Medical Imaging Specialists Syndicate, where he supervised the preparation of the scientific program for the conference and the review of scientific research and participating lectures, which contributed to the success of this specialized scientific event.
The conference also witnessed distinguished scientific participation from graduates and students of the University’s postgraduate programs, where Osama Ajaj, a graduate of the Master’s program in Medical Imaging and Magnetic Resonance, and a staff member of the Faculty of Dentistry - Ramallah Campus, presented a scientific lecture entitled: “How CT Perfusion Redefines Acute Stroke Imaging - Insights from the Palestinian Reality,” in which he discussed the importance of cerebral perfusion technology with computed tomography (CT Perfusion) in improving the diagnosis and management of acute stroke cases, reviewing real-life Palestinian experiences.
Hassan Abu Ji’ab, a student in the Master’s program in Medical Imaging and Magnetic Resonance, also participated in a scientific lecture entitled “AI in Dental Radiography,” during which he reviewed the applications of artificial intelligence in the field of dental imaging and its growing role in supporting diagnosis and improving the quality of health services.
As part of the University’s support for its students and encouraging them to engage in scientific and research activities, there was a distinguished participation of students in the Bachelor of Medical Imaging, where three distinguished students presented specialized scientific lectures in the field of computed tomography (CT scanning).
Student Raneem Fawakhrieh presented a lecture entitled, Dual Energy CT, and the student Yafa Muhammad Yaqoub Turkman had the title of her lecture, Radiation Dose in Computed Tomography Concepts, Measurement, and Dose Reduction Strategies. As for the student Shatha Jaber, her lecture was entitled CT Scan of Orbits.
Dr. Ahmed Abu Arra, assistant professor in the Department of Medical Imaging at the University, confirmed that these participations by the department and by postgraduate and undergraduate students in the conference activities reflected the advanced scientific level enjoyed by the students of the Department of Medical Imaging, and their ability to provide specialized scientific content and keep up with the latest developments in the field of medical imaging.
He also stressed the keenness of the Arab American University to enhance its scientific and academic presence in local and international forums as well as to support its students, graduates, and faculty members to effectively contribute to developing the medical imaging sector and raising the level of scientific research and health services in Palestine.
