The Arab American University ranked second in the GreenMetric ranking for 2022 at the level of Palestinian universities. It also ranked 315 in the world.

The GreenMetric classification is the most important in the field of green sustainability for universities in the world. It classifies universities based on their commitment to environmental sustainability and climate change, their investment in renewable energy, the management of water resources on campus, and their research production that is consistent with the sustainable development goals approved by the United Nations.

The university gives great importance to the issue of environmental sustainability. It allocates large green spaces for students on campus and has a system for benefiting from rainwater and wastewater treatment. It also covers a number of its buildings with panels that generate solar energy to benefit from it, in addition to following the green building methodology in all its modern buildings in the Jenin and Ramallah campuses.
