Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri- the University President and his Assistant Eng. Bara Asfour discussed the possibility to host “Al Quds and Al Karameh” Championship in the University’s International Stadium with Mr. Firas Abu Hilal- the Secretary General of the Palestinian Football Association and Mr. Ali Jebril- the Head of the Competitions in the Association. This championship will give the opportunity to Palestinian and Jordanian teams to participate in.

Mr. Firas Abu Hilal- the Secretary General of the Palestinian Football Association explained that this championship is planned to be in March 2022, and that three stadiums in the West Bank was chosen to perform the championship in, and that Arab American University International Stadium is one of those three.

Mr. Abu Hilal also said that Jordanian and Palestinian clubs and teams will participate in this championship such as “Al-Wehdat SC, Al-Ramtha SC and Al-Faisaly FC from Jordan and Rafah Club, Hebron Club and Jabel Mukaber Club from Palestine”. This championship will be under the auspices of His Majesty King Abdullah II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and His Excellency the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas "Abu Mazen" and under the supervision of the Palestinian Football Association with a team of an international, regional and local arbitration.

Mr. Abu Hilal appreciated the regular collaboration from Arab American University with the Palestinian Football Association in specific and with all sports federations in general, and praised its role in its continuous support to the Palestinian and international sports. Mr. Abu Hilal also explained the importance of the sport facilities and building in Arab American University that is fully equipped with tools according to international specifications and that this university is a great edifice that all Palestinians should be proud of.

Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri welcomed the idea of hosting the championship in the university’s international stadium and said that the university will provide all possibilities in order to make this championship that holds a patriotic meaning a successful one. Prof. Abu Zuhri explained that the university will work hard to reflect a modern sport image about Palestine. Moreover, Prof. Abu Zuhri expressed his pride in the brotherhood relations between the Palestinian people and Jordanian people and that it is a great pleasure to host Jordanian clubs in our Palestinian stadiums. He also explained that AAUP will always support the Palestinian sports and that it has previously hosted Asian, International and Arab championships in its sports facilities with a great success, as Arab American University always seeks success and excellence.
