A delegation from the Arab American University, represented by the Assistant to the President for Community Affairs, Dr. Laila Herzallah, and the Director of Public Relations, Mr. Firas Saifi, visited Jericho and the Jordan Valley Governorate to enhance cooperation with several government institutions.
The delegation met with the Governor of Jericho and the Jordan Valley, Dr. Hossein Hamayel, to know about the most prominent prospects for joint cooperation that can be worked on to enhance teamwork between the governorate and the University, on the research, cultural and community levels, as well as in the fields of artificial intelligence and data science.
Dr. Hamayel welcomed the delegation, stressing that the Arab American University has been distinguished in its rapid development and expansion, in addition to the diversity of its academic programs and the grants it offers. He stressed the importance of expanding the horizons of cooperation between the governorate and the University, leading to the development of a targeted strategy that enhances community work, scientific research and access to marginalized areas. He added that the governorate will spare no effort in providing all kinds of support and facilities for the activities and events that the University plans to implement and enhance the spirit of citizenship and involve students in community development.
In turn, Dr. Herzallah conveyed the greetings of the Acting President of the University, Dr. Bara Asfour, to the Governor of Jericho and the Jordan Valley, Dr. Hossein Hamayel. She stressed his directives to open permanent horizons of cooperation with all governorates of the homeland, leading to a strategic methodology to enhance cooperation and achieve the goals of developing the institutions, society and the University in light of the challenges facing our Palestinian people.
In the same context, the delegation met with the Director of Education in the Jericho and the Jordan Valley Governorate, Mr. Amjad Khodairi, who welcomed the University, stressing the depth of the relationship that has linked him to it for many years.
Dr. Laila Herzallah highlighted the most prominent scholarships offered by AAUP to students and the facilities it works on to serve students despite all the challenges and circumstances surrounding it. She also highlighted the great moral societal role that the University plays towards students and their families in several areas, most notably the free medical days that come in light of the difficult economic conditions that are currently afflicting our people as well as what the University provides to the local community in terms of distinguished academic, administrative and research expertise.
For his part, the Director of Public Relations, Mr. Firas Saifi, invited the Jericho Education Directorate to visit the University to see the modern facilities and educational development adopted, especially the first Prosthetics and Orthotics Factory in the Middle East, the medical complex, which is the most advanced in the region, the anatomy laboratories, the virtual pharmacy, the multiple centers, and the multiple centers and faculties that follow the developmental technological approach in teaching. He pointed out that the University is currently leading the PhDGov project in cooperation with many Palestinian and European universities as well as the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to develop doctoral programs in universities, which will last for three years and was launched the day before yesterday, Monday, in the German city of Aachen.
In turn, the Director of the Education Directorate in the city of Jericho, Mr. Amjad Khodairi, indicated his keenness to implement various activities, programs and events that serve the educational family and school students. He explained that the partnership and cooperation with the University is a scientific and technological addition that the Education Directorate is proud of to serve students and their teachers in various cooperative fields.
Dr. Herzallah thanked the Governor of Jericho and the Jordan Valley, Dr. Hossein Hamayel, the Director of Jericho Education, Mr. Amjad Khodairi, the Technical Director of Education, Dr. Basmat Salem, the Administrative Director of Education, Dr. Fadia Imor, the Director of Public Relations, Mr. Mahmoud Jaber, and Mr. Khaled Basharat, for the warm reception and opening up cooperative horizons that will add remarkable development to both parties in the coming days.
