The Office of the Assistant to the President for Community Affairs has held a series of courses over six days, targeting employees of local authorities and local government directorate departments in the Jenin and Tubas governorates, titled “The financial system for local authorities, the mechanism for recruiting financial support, and methods for filling out project applications.”

The course was inaugurated by Dr. Laila Herzallah, Assistant to the University President for Community Affairs, with the presence of the Director of Local Government in Tubas, Mr. Ragheb Abu Diak, with a speech in which she welcomed the attendees, and indicated that the aim of these courses is to develop the practical, scientific and functional skills of local authorities, and to strengthen relations between the University and the local community, within the university’s vision. She stressed the role of local authorities in developing society, explaining that this course is part of a series of courses previously launched by AAUP, which was preceded by a course on crisis management.

For his part, the Director of Local Government in Tubas, Mr. Ragheb Abu Diak, thanked the Arab American University for the training and development courses it provides to the local community, as the University’s role is not limited to academics and knowledge, but rather in serving the Palestinian public and providing all the necessary things to contribute to building the Palestinian state. He stressed that the University has contributed significantly to strengthening the steadfastness of citizens and strengthening their skills to serve the Palestinian people.

It is noteworthy that the course is delivered by academics from the Arab American University and includes multiple topics over the next six days, most notably communication and effective communication with the public, by Dr. Mahmoud Khlouf, the mechanism for recruiting financial support and methods for filling out project applications by Dr. Sami Al-Sadr, and the mechanism for identifying needs for projects by Dr. Moath Sabha, the financial system for local authorities by Dr. Raed Saad and Dr. Hosni Rabaya, resolving disputes and conflicts by Professor Dr. Ayman Yousef, and leadership in community work by Dr. Laila Herzallah.
