In a qualitative step to enhance scientific research and develop higher education in Palestine, the Arab American University, in partnership with a number of Palestinian and European universities as well as the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, launched a project to develop governance of doctoral programs in Palestinian universities. The events of the project were launched today, Monday, with a three-day workshop at the Technical University of Aachen in Germany.

This three-year project comes within the Erasmus Plus program offered by the European Union, which aims to enhance governance of doctoral programs in Palestinian universities, enhance research cooperation between Palestinian and European universities, and encourage partnership between the academic and industrial sectors.

Representatives from the Arab American University, Al-Quds University, An-Najah National University, and Palestine Technical University - Kadoorie, as well as representatives from the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Accreditation and Quality Authority, in addition to European universities represented by: Technical University of Aachen - Germany, Free University of Brussels - Belgium, and the Royal Technical University (KTH) in Sweden, are participating in the workshop.

Dr. Adli Saleh, Advisor to the AAUP Board of Directors for Planning and Development, confirmed that this project is the culmination of the University's efforts to enhance international cooperation and develop its academic programs. He pointed out that developing doctoral programs directly contributes to developing scientific research and enhancing the position of Palestinian universities on the global academic map.

For his part, Dr. Sami Sader, Project Director, explained that the workshop discusses many issues related to developing doctoral programs by benefiting from European expertise in this field, including governance mechanisms, quality standards, curriculum development, and evaluation mechanisms. He pointed out that the project will develop specialized governance tools and systems for doctoral programs in Palestinian universities.

This project is expected to contribute to enhancing the capabilities of Palestinian researchers and developing innovative solutions to the challenges facing Palestinian society. It will also contribute to building broad cooperation networks between Palestinian and European researchers, and is part of the University's vision and strategy for the future in developing the educational curriculum.

It is worth mentioning that the Arab American University delegation included Dr. Adli Saleh, Advisor to the University Board of Directors for Planning and Development, Dr. Sami Sader, Project Director, Dr. Muayad Abusaa from the Faculty of Science, and Dr. Amjad Ratrot from the Faculty of Information Technology.
