The Arab American University has received a delegation from the British Consulate, with the aim of discussing enhancing cooperation and networking mechanisms with British universities for student, academic and research exchange.
The delegation included Consul General Ms. Diane Corner, and Political Consul Mr. Palak Patel. They were received by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hazem Khanfar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Malik Zeben, Professor in the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Dr. Dalal Eriqat, Director of Public Relations, Mr. Firas Saifi, and Activities Officer in the Public Relations Department, Ms. Samah Dawahdeh.
During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Khanfar gave a detailed explanation to the British Consulate delegation about the University, its goals and vision for higher education, its bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs, and its various faculties on the University's campuses in Jenin and Ramallah. He explained that the University seeks to strengthen partnerships with European, American and regional universities with the aim of exchanging academic and research expertise and creating modern specializations to meet the needs of Palestinian students.
Dr. Khanfar added that the University hopes through today's meeting that the British Consulate help AAUP network and strengthen partnerships with British universities in many academic fields of common interest.
For her part, Consul General Ms. Diane stressed the importance of this meeting and continuous communication with the University to discuss issues that help strengthen relations between the two sides, and to study mechanisms for opening relations between the Arab American University and British universities. She also thanked the University for the Warm Reception to the delegation.
The meeting was followed by a tour of the Faculty of Medicine, where the delegation knew about the faculty and its laboratories. They also met with medical students who had recently returned from participating in the summer course at the University of Dundee, UK, and listened to their opinions about their participation and their distinguished experience on both the academic and social levels.
The students of the Faculty of Medicine also presented an honorary shield to the British Consul General, Ms. Diane, for their role in facilitating the students' participation in the course at the University of Dundee.
