The Faculty of Medicine at the Arab American University has held an expanded meeting between the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Dr. Malik Zeben, and the Faculty staff with all students, in a new initiative launched by the Faculty with the aim of enhancing students' professional skills and promoting self-professionalism.
With the presence of the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Ramez Zaid, Assistant Dean of the Faculty for Clinical Training, Dr. Saja Nazzal, and Assistant Dean of the Faculty for Administrative Affairs, Ms. Areej Shalbak.
The meeting aims to provide an opportunity for students of the Faculty of Medicine to learn about real experiences and benefit from them during their transition to practical life, as medical cases were presented during the meeting and some basic professional lessons were drawn that can be built upon in order to develop practical and professional skills and students.
The new initiative launched by the Faculty of Medicine aims to keep communication channels open between the Deanship of the Faculty of Medicine on the one hand and the students on the other hand, to identify the most prominent achievements of the Faculty, and to constantly monitor the progress of the academic process among students and listen to the obstacles they face.
Many topics of interest to students were raised by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Professor Dr. Malik Zaben, who presented one of the medical cases he dealt with as a neurosurgeon and the mechanism for dealing with the case. He stressed to the students that the doctor must be keen to investigate the truth and inform the patient or his representative of the medical condition he suffers from, its causes and complications, and inform them of the appropriate alternatives for diagnosis, and provide treatment in a humane, appropriate and clear manner.
