Researcher Sonia Suleiman Khalil, a student in the Innovation in Education Program, has defended her thesis titled "The effectiveness of a drama-based program in developing the conversation skill of fifth-grade students at the Latin Patriarchate School - Zababdeh."
The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of a program based on using the drama strategy in developing the conversation skill of fifth-grade students by designing a drama-based program in developing the conversation skill with the aim of developing learning and teaching methods.
The researcher followed two approaches according to the nature of the study: the experimental approach with a quasi-experimental design and the constructivist approach. The study sample consisted of (26) male and female students and was divided into (17) males and (9) females from fifth-grade students at the Latin Patriarchate School - Zababdeh, which is one of the Latin Patriarchate schools in Palestine. An educational program was designed using the drama strategy.
The study concluded that there was an improvement in students' English conversation skills after applying the drama-related program, as the students' total score before applying the program related to the drama strategy to develop conversation skills was average (M=2.4712), while the students' results after applying the program related to the drama strategy to develop conversation skills showed an increase in the total score and it was very good (M=3.4776) for all students. In addition, it was found that there were statistically significant differences in the results of the pre- and post-test related to the observation card that measures students' English conversation skills in favor of the post-test with an arithmetic mean (=3.477M).
The thesis was supervised by Dr. Mosaddaq Brahmeh. The examination committee included Dr. Tahani Bsharat and Dr. Wael Abu Hassan.
