
President Mahmoud Abbas has received on Saturday at the presidential headquarters in the city of Ramallah a delegation from the Arab American University, which included the founder Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab American University, Dr. Yousef Asfour, and Mr. Anan Al Deek, Director of the University's Offices in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ziad Abu Amro, Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, and Mr. Yasser Abbas.
Dr. Yousef Asfour briefed President Mahmoud Abbas on the conditions of the Arab American University, the plans set for its development, and its diverse and distinguished academic programs that serve the Palestinian academic process as well as the efforts made by the University in the field of digital transformation, cyber security, and artificial intelligence. Dr. Asfour also explained the global partnerships that AAUP is carrying out with prestigious universities such as: Oxford University, Dundee University, Indiana University, and other foreign universities. Dr. Asfour thanked His Excellency the President for his continuous support for the Arab American University.
Mr. Anan Al Deek informed the President of the situation of Palestinian students from the occupied lands studying at the Arab American University in light of the current situation. He also briefed the president on the situation of start-up companies in Palestine, his doctoral thesis in this field, as well as some recommendations related to this matter, in addition to the importance of using artificial intelligence technologies and keeping pace with the fourth technological revolution.
The President appreciated the efforts made by the University to develop its work and serve the Palestinian academic and educational process.
