The University and the Palestinian Telecommunication Group signed an agreement to finance the project of establishing a water purification plant at the university and its facilities. The meeting was attended by Mr. Faleh Abu Arra VP for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Mr. Ammar Al-Aker CEO of the Telecommunications Group, a number of faculty members, and directors of the group, at the Group’s headquarters in Al-Bireh.

“We thank the Telecommunications Group for their continuous support to the University through the developmental projects they fund, which contributes to raise the level of academic services provided by us to the university students”, said Mr. Faleh Abu Arra VP for Administrative and Financial Affairs. The university's water purification plant will serve health and environmental science students directly through laboratory experiments. The station will also contribute to create a green environment in the university and become one of the university basic resources.

Abu Arra stressed on the importance of continued cooperation between the private sector and educational institutions, which has a great impact on the education sector advancement, thanking the telecommunications group for committing to its social responsibility to maintain higher education in Palestine. 

Commenting on the agreement, Ammar Al Aker, CEO of the Telecommunications Group said this agreement comes as part of the Group's strategy to actively contribute and partner with higher education institutions to develop this important sector. The group believes that technological investment in higher education sector will improve the education quality in universities, institutes and colleges, and will give both professors, students and graduates the opportunity and possibilities to develop the students’ skills to meet the local market needs and empower graduates to enter it, and contribute to the overall development process in Palestine. Pointing, the group is keen on the continuity of support and cooperation with various institutions of higher education, through modern technology to serve the education development.

Al-Aker pointed that this support comes from the telecommunications group belief that the Arab American University is a scientific edifice that hosts large number of students every academic year and its role in building the future of the nation. He stressed, it’s the Group’s core strategy to constantly look for modern mechanisms to support and develop education, develop renewable ways for development, which is our strategic choice of top priority.
