Overview

In 2019, the 5-year bachelor of Pharmacy program was established in response to the continuous increase in demand for primary healthcare providers and to satisfy the need for highly qualified and active Pharmacists as an integral part of the healthcare system and the Pharmaceutical industry. The Pharmacy program was initially started as a department in the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences at the Arab American University main campus in Jenin. As a continuum to the program’s success and in accordance with the university's vision for the program to become a leading contributor both nationally and internationally in all aspects of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Faculty of Pharmacy was established and housed in a distinguished modern five story building on Fall 2021/2022 academic year.

The Faculty of Pharmacy at the Arab American University aims to be a pioneer in adopting modern teaching methodologies and develop novel strategies to create a unique learning experience that enriches the students' knowledge and expertise in all aspects of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. In addition to world class faculty members and the high-end facilities provided by the faculty to support the students' learning journey.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, students should be equipped with comprehensive knowledge, skills, and abilities to excel in their endeavors.

Domain 1 – Foundational Knowledge

  1. Integrate basic, biomedical, technological, policy, economic, and legal sciences knowledge into quality pharmacy education.
     
  2. Demonstrate depth and breadth of knowledge in pharmaceutical, Pharmacoeconomics, social/behavioral/administrative, and clinical science.
     
  3. Incorporate knowledge from pharmaceutical sciences to explain how specific drugs or drug classes work and evaluate their potential value in individuals and populations.

Domain 2 – Essentials and approaches for practicing and caring in pharmacy (Skills)

  1. Use problem-solving and critical thinking skills, along with an innovative mindset, to address challenges and promote positive change in pharmacy practice.
     
  2. Demonstrate distinguished leadership, teamwork, collaboration, and communication skills with peers and interprofessional teams.
     
  3. Endorse caring, advocacy, equity, efficacy, health, and safety of the community through developing influential prevention and educational strategies and financial stewardship.
     
  4. Apply high moral standards, stability monitoring standards, and proper storage guidelines in pharmacy practice.
     
  5. Apply pharmaceutical therapeutic management principles in the provision of outstanding care plans specific for each disease that optimize patient health care outcomes.
     
  6. Practice an effective role of a pharmacy practitioner in the community and various pharmaceutical diverse settings.

Domain 3 – Personal and professional development (Attitudes)

  1. Use knowledge, metacognition skills, motivation, and emotional intelligence to enhance individual growth, development & professional pharmacist identity.
     
  2. Demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm to building and maintaining trust with patients, colleagues, other healthcare professionals, and society.
     
  3. Apply principles of scientific research and evidence-based health care into pharmacy practice and lifelong learning.
