The Arab American University announces an opening for a Laboratory Technician in the Laboratories of Biology, Anatomy, Histology, and Microbiology (Faculty of Medicine) at the Ramallah Campus, on a full-time, fixed-term contract.
The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for performing laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures in support of clinical and academic activities. The successful candidate will also assist in training medical students in laboratory techniques and ensure full compliance with quality assurance standards, biosafety regulations, and professional ethics.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests in accordance with approved medical and technical standards.
- Prepare, handle, and process clinical specimens following established laboratory protocols.
- Ensure proper calibration, operation, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Assist in supervising and training medical students in laboratory procedures and best practices.
- Monitor and evaluate the accuracy and reliability of test results in line with quality control standards.
- Adhere strictly to biosafety regulations, infection control policies, and laboratory safety procedures.
- Maintain proper documentation and accurate record-keeping using approved laboratory information systems.
- Ensure the availability and proper storage of laboratory supplies, reagents, and materials.
- Participate in planning and improving laboratory services to support the educational and clinical missions of the Faculty.
- Prepare periodic reports related to laboratory activities and submit them to the direct supervisor.
- Collaborate effectively with academic and clinical staff to support teaching and research activities.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills Required for the Job:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Biology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of one year of relevant practical experience in a clinical or academic laboratory setting.
