The Arab American University is seeking to hire an Optometrist in the Optometry Department on a full-time temporary contract on the University Campus in Ramallah.
The employee is expected to provide the necessary support to faculty members and students during their work in the clinics, maintain and operate equipment and devices along with maintaining a safe and organized educational environment. S/he is also expected to contribute to research activities and ensure the accuracy and safety of work in the clinics.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To cooperate with faculty members and supervise students during their work in the clinics.
- To prepare the clinics according to the teaching schedule, and ensure the availability of all necessary supplies and tools before the start of each practical session.
- To operate and maintain the devices and equipment used in the clinics on a regular basis.
- To arrange patient appointments and communicate with them to coordinate student examination sessions.
- To train students and supervise the progress of patient examinations and ensure the accuracy of diagnosis and results.
- To assist in correcting and updating the "Patient Log" and "Case Presentations".
- To document the results of students' practical experiences and contribute to writing research reports.
- To supervise students' practical training through field visits to training sites.
- To prepare the budget of the clinic in coordination with the department head and the dean of the faculty.
- To follow up on the laboratories' needs for materials and stationery and follow up with the relevant bodies.
- To cooperate with faculty members in supervising exams.
- To ensure the implementation of the infection prevention policy.
Qualifications and Skills Required for the Job:
- The applicant must have a bachelor's degree in optometry with a very good standing from an accredited university or college.
- It is preferable for the applicant to have at least one year of practical experience.
- The applicant must have a Palestinian professional practice certificate.
