Biography:
First, I (Othman Thaher) finished primary school at Yasid Secondary School for Boys, and then I transferred to Asira Al-Shamaliah Secondary School to get a high school certificate. After a year, I was accepted at Al-Quds University to begin my bachelor's degree in dentistry. In my first academic year, I was pleased to attain the highest required average among my colleagues. This provided me the opportunity to change programs and begin a 6-year journey in medicine. I graduated as a medical doctor in 2020. However, in order to obtain a license to practice medicine, I began the compulsory internship at Rafidia Hospital (September 2020 - August 2021). I did training in various departments and received positive feedback from the heads of these departments. It was a beneficial experience for me since it provided me with the opportunity to strengthen my communication skills with patients, companions, and medical professionals. It also taught me the value of working as a group and acquiring new skills together.
After obtaining my license, I was able to enroll in a master's degree in human anatomy at the University of Dundee in the United Kingdom. There, I acquired valuable experience dissecting cadavers and learning about the structures and functions of the human body as a whole, as well as the organs and systems that comprise it. The biggest benefit of studying anatomy at the University of Dundee is the use of the Theil embalming method, which allows you to deal with flexible and mobile bodies, organs, and tissues instead of fixed immovable plastinated cadavers.
I started a new work as a lecturer at the Arab American University in Palestine (AAUP) in September 2022. There, I teach anatomy classes for medical schools. In addition, I joined committees in the Faculty of Medicine to improve performance in a variety of areas. The Student Assessment Committee is one of these groups, and it is responsible for developing policies for evaluating student achievement in their courses. And whether the assessment method is sufficient to accomplish the course's learning objectives.
