Arab American University in cooperation with Jenin Governorate Police Directorate organized a lecture for its students on cybercrime, mechanism of fighting it and prevention of blackmailing.
Speakers presented a definition of cybercrimes, pointing to the rise in number of registered cases due to widespread use of the internet, social media and increased number of users. Mentioning, real stories of people who were blackmailing victims, stressing on the need to be careful, not to publish any personal and private materials online or exchange them on social media platforms and in case of blackmailing the victim should head to the police to file a complaint that handled in confidentiality.
The speakers mentioned the police’s mechanisms to protect citizens from blackmailing, on top of it raising awareness, providing general advices and guidance on using websites and social media and how to face blackmailing.
