President of the Arab American University -Jenin, Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri, received U.S General Consul in Jerusalem, Mr. Donald Bloom and his delegation, who visited the university in order to have an overview about the university, and discuss possibilities for future cooperation in the scientific and cultural fields.
A visit by U.S Consul to the University
The U.S Consul was received by the Vice President for Training; Dr. Nizam Diab , the head of Planning and Development; Dr. Osama Salama, the Assistant of the President for Information Technology; Professor Bahgat Alaysa, the Dean of the Administrative and Financial Sciences Faculty; Dr. Aysar Sussan, the Head of Marketing Department; Dr. Raed Shomali, the professor in the Science Faculty; Dr. Rola GadAllah, the University Electronic Programs Supervisor; Eng.Bara Asfour, the Director of Public Relations; Mr. Fathi Aamor.
During the meeting, Prof. Abu Zuhri, presented a detailed explanation about the university, faculties and majors, as well as its training and research centers. Moreover, he displayed the university’s academic and research achievements. He also presented the university’s leading role in the community, and its partnerships with American universities; such its partnership with Indiana University in teaching in the graduate studies program. In addition to the implementation of programs in collaboration with a number of European universities, parallel with the academic and student exchanges, and the mutual scientific research .
Besides, Dr. Zuhri explained that the university has become a distinguished scientific and research center in Palestine. This is resulted from adopting recent teaching methods based on learning, thinking, and researching. In addition to utilizing special and unique academic programs, which participate on the advancement of education in the society various fields.
In turn, U.S Consul; Mr. Bloom, expressed his pleasure to visit the university. He praised and stressed that the Arab American University gives a precise evidence on Palestinians’ ability to build model institutions that serve the various sectors, and promote the community development and the economic situation.
He also praised the ambitious vision of the university administration, which aims to build an international network of academic and research relations, in order to exchange experiences. Mr. Bloom, moreover, confirmed their readiness to establish fruitful partnerships between U.S universities and Arab American university -Jenin. Beside implementing a range of cultural programs.
The U.S Consul visited the sports hall in the university, which is intended to be opened soon, and he checked out the Faculty of Dentistry and its educational laboratories and clinics. Besides, he met the Dean of the Dentistry Faculty; Dr. Maher Jarbawi, as well as the members of the faculty, the students and a group of patients, who are being treated free. Mr. Bloom stated that the Arab American University has huge and great potential on the infrastructure, equipment and laboratories, in addition to its qualified and experienced academic staff.
