The Engineering and Information Technology Faculty at the AAUJ concluded the third Palestinian contest for programming of the year 2014, with a participation of 24 teams that are representing 9 palestinian universities who were competing to put some programming solutions for the daily life programs.
The contest was held through two days under the auspicious of the American Institution ACM and IBM Company, with a local support of Dimension Company, Haseeb Al-Sabagh Center for Excellency in Information Technology and Qabatia’s municipality.
Many Universities participated at the contest including the Arab American University, Birzeit University, Hebron University, Al-Najah National University, Al-Quds University, Polytechnic University, Bethlehem University, Al-Ahlyeh University and Al-Khadouri Univeristy..JPG)
The committee announced the results of the contest during a press conference, and the head of the supervised committee Dr. Mousa Rafayá said: “the contest between the universities was strong and ended by the results as follows, the Polytechnic University got the first place, Al-Najah National University got the second place, the Arab American University got the third place, Al-Najah National University got the forth place and the Arab American University got the fifth place. The evaluation process was according to the speed of finding a solution for the problem, the number of problems solved and the number of tries for each team.”.JPG)
The first five winner teams were qualified to go to the Arabic contest of programming of the year 2014 that will be held in Sharm Al-Shikh in Egypt from the 14th till the 17th of this month of November.
The Dean of the Engineering and Information Technology Faculty at the Arab American University Dr. Muath Sobha hold the greetings of the President of the AAUJ Professor Mahmoud Abu Mwais to the participated teams and the local and international supervision, and he said: “today, the Arab American University is celebrating the present and future Palestinian programmers, who came from all over Palestine to compete and change their experiences to upgrade the programming levels in Palestine. Today we celebrate 72 programmers who achieved their goals and prepared themselves to reach a higher goal which is to represent Palestine in Arabic and International places for programming.”
The supporters were represented by the representative of Dimension Company who appealed the local companies to utilize the experiences of this generation in such contests, indicating that the programming market has no geographical or political limits and that the Palestinian market equals the outside experiences and they are able to build a national promising Palestinian economic.
The participants competed to find creative solutions and solving problems different in difficulties that need skills in programming, logic and math and are appropriate to their intellectual levels and abilities to find solutions by using the programming languages such C++ and JAVA for problems such the traffic, the economy and math and much more.
The contest was supervised by many professionals from the participant universities, and some other local supervisors. And the participant teams appreciated and thanked the Arab American University for the good hospitality and for the distinguish organizing they have witnessed. They assured that it is a distinguish educational edifice that goes confidently in the direction of improvements academically and in the Information Technology aspects.
