The Arab American University received Mr. Majeicoran Saba, Asia Director at the FIBA, accompanied by a delegation from the Palestinian Basketball Federation, who visited the university to inspect the establishments and sports facilities especially the multi-purpose gym.

Mr. Saba was accompanied during his visit by the Head of the Palestinian Basketball Federation Mr. Khader Diab and a group of the Union members, where they were welcomed by Assistant Rector for Administrative and Financial Affairs Mr. Faleh Abu Arra, and the Dean of Faculty of Arts Prof. Dr. Muhammad Dawabsheh, and the Head of the Department of Sports Sciences Dr Samer Abu Eid and the faculty members of the Department of Sports Sciences, and the Director of Public Relations at the University Mr. Fathi Aamour, and the coordinator of the sports facilities Mr. Uday Daraghmeh.
During the meeting, Prof. Abu Arra presented to Mr. Saba and the delegation from the Basketball Federation a detailed explanation about the athletes' village, and that the university is in its final stages to fully equip it entirely. He indicated that it includes an international football stadium, a multipurpose gym, and a number of exposed playgrounds. In addition to that, and after the completion of the engineering plans, building of a semi Olympic swimming pool will start directly.
He added that the university's philosophy to create the athletes’ village with global specifications and international standards is to serve the ambitious and eager Palestinian Youth to build bridges of communication with the world, and to promote and encourage sports that devotes love, tolerance, brotherhood and peace. Organizing youth sports activities is the most important tool to break down cultural and social barriers, and to establish friendships despite the political, economical and religious differences, in addition to its contribution in the consolidation of the communication values, exchanging of ideas, respect for self and others, and helps individuals to follow healthy lifestyles. All of this will contribute to raising the level of communities and its civilization.
During the visit, Mr. Saba and the Basketball Federation delegation inspected the international football stadium and the multipurpose gym. They in turn, praised the efforts of the university, which was able to provide the Palestinian sports and athletic infrastructure with international standards specifications to serve the Palestinian sports and to contribute in the upbringing of generations that are able to represent Palestine in international sports events and to convey love and peace from the Palestinian people to all the peoples of the earth.
The director of the Asian region in the FIBA Mr. Saba said: "What I saw today in the Arab American University is spectacular and calls for pride, especially the multipurpose gym that will be a qualitative addition to the Palestinian basketball and will spread this sport on a larger scale among the Palestinian youth. He added that the establishment of the athletes’ village is a distinct step in the right direction in caring for the youth, and to deliver the message of Palestine to the whole world in all sports events, especially as it has the athletes who are able to compete in different sports. "
