Invited by Dr. Ziad Abu Amro- the member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Ms. Rula Shawan- the Head of the Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies Center in Arab American University participated in the consultative meeting that aimed to establish the National Digital Palestinian Archive that was held under directions of H.E President Mahmoud Abbas.
Dr. Atef AbuSaif- the Minister of Culture, Mr. Issa Qaraqe- Minister of the Palestinian National Library and Minister Ahmad Assaf- the General Supervisor of the Official Media attended the meeting along with representatives from the Palestinian Studies Institution, the Palestinian Museum, the Negotiations Department, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Yassir Arafat Institution where they all emphasized on the importance of the Palestinian archive and the importance to put efforts together with the civil society organizations which work in the archive field in order to use the archives to serve the Palestinian narrative and the national identity.
Ms. Rula Shahwan explained the role of the Policy and Conflict Resolution Center in AAUP in collecting the archive especially related to the first Intifada, the Legislative Council sessions and the Documentaries archive as well, and said that the center is ready to offer any kind of assistance and help for this project to succeed.
