Dr. Awartani is experienced in designing and implementing surveys in relation to market research, socio-economic studies, political polling, and monitoring and evaluation projects. Over the course of his career, Dr. Awartani supervised more than 300 projects in relation to market research, policy analysis and reform studies, socio-economic studies, monitoring and evaluation. These projects covered areas in education, health, security, social political systems, economic development, local government, performance assessment, customer satisfaction and policy analysis for both public and private sector institutions. At the geographic level, Dr. Awartani worked on projects that covered Palestine, Jordan and Lebanon.
Dr. Awartani worked with international organizations such as USAID, World Bank, UN, DFID among others to support their programs with the necessary data using both primary and secondary sources. Some of the primary sources are cross-sectional surveys and experimental designs, which were used for monitoring and evaluation purposes for implemented projects.
Dr. Awartani served as an assistant professor of statistics at Local universities such as Brizeit university and Arab American university of Palestine AAUP. He contributed in to developing several programs at Both universities.
Dr. Awartani is an entrepreneur. He is the founder of Alpha International for research and polling and served as the CEO for Alpha from 2005 till 2020. He managed 12 full time staff, 120 part-time data collectors , and 30 subject matter consultants across various disciplines such as education, health, economic growth ,etc.. He made an exit from the company where he sold his shares to his partners and took a position at Arab American university.
With the full support of Arab American University, Dr. Awartani founded the AAUP center for research and polling. The center is mandated to support Arab American university research groups and Palestinian community at large with necessary data and analytics services.
Dr. Awartani contributes to teaching efforts at the university, where he teaches several courses in statistics for master students in data science, executive MBA, and health informatics.
Dr. Awartani earned his PhD in Statistics from American University in Washington, DC (1993), his master’s degree in Computer Science from American University in Washington, DC (1988), and a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Birzeit University, Palestine (1986).
