AAUP Celebrated the Graduation of the First Cohort of the Training Program in Human Resources

Organized in Ramallah Campus and funded by the British Support Team, Arab American University and the Ministry of Interior celebrated the graduation ceremony of the 1st cohort from the training program of Human Resources that has “participants from the Palestinian security services”.

The graduation ceremony was attended by Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri- the University President, General Yousef Dakhlallah- the Chairman of the Organization and Administration Body, Brig. Gen. Stephen Cartwright from the British Team Support and Brig. Gen. Stephen Graham from the Canadian Support Team, and the 25 students who are graduating from this program who work in the security services.

The ceremony started with the Palestinian anthem, then the British anthem and then the Canadian anthem and the ceremony was moderated by Nada Ennab.

Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri – the University President started the ceremony by welcoming the guests and congratulating students on their achievement of passing the training program in Human Resources, and emphasized on the importance of this program that was organized under joint collaboration between Arab American University and the Ministry of interior and funded by the British Support Team. This program was targeted to the security services aiming to improve their capabilities and efficiency and then apply what they learned in their organizations. Students studied 8 courses in Human Resources under the supervision of specialists from Arab American University.

Prof. Abu Zuhri introduced Arab American University and its main academic programs in PhD, MA and BA degrees and said that AAUP aims mainly to focusing on academic development, supporting the scientific research and providing services to the local community, and added that the university is achieving everyone’s dream in getting their higher education.

He added that the university has many great academic international relations with international universities through the joint academic programs, also with the local universities, the Palestinian governmental and private organizations and the international organizations as well. And he said that the university is ready to provide its academic experiences to all the local, regional and international organizations.

General Yousef Dakhlallah appreciated the people who organized and supervised this distinguish program that benefited some of the best officers in the security services who were chosen to join this program in the excellent Arab American University, and he praised the British Support Team for their support and collaboration.  

Gen. Dakhlallah then said the graduates: “It is your time now to develop the security organizations after finishing this program, and apply what you have learned academically from Arab American University and to improve the performance of human resources in your organizations”.

In his speech representing the graduates, Mr. Mamoun Omaryeh said: “I am happy today that I am graduating from this program and I see you happy as well to finish this chapter in our lives in order to improve and develop the human resources in our organizations based on scientific and academic foundations”.

He added: “we were chosen to represent the security services in Palestine and be the change in our organizations. This all would not have happened without our leaders in the Ministry of Interior who seek always to improve and upgrade the security organizations and the support of the British Support Team”, and continued: “We are living beautiful moments now seeing the efforts of the past two years of our lives, as many things have changed, our priorities changed and our view to time also changed”.

Mr. Omaryeh also emphasized on the importance of developing the human resources and on the change in the thoughts, goals and directions of people and on exchanging our strategies and plans with better new ones. He explained that we should build new systems and creative applications to follow up the developed human resources systems, and to continue on improving them to reach the highest levels with less costs and time by using tools, methodologies and technology to encourage the work and upgrade the human resources to be able to deal with any change or emergency circumstances.

Brig. Gen. Stephen Cartwright from the British Team Support in his turn said: “it is an honor to be with you today and celebrate the graduation of the first cohort of the Human Resources program. It is a great achievement to the British Support Team to be supporting the Palestinian security forces through the security sector program in the British government, which is a program that represents capabilities, accountability, sustainability and comprehensiveness with its achievement in the official working hours and hard work of students, in order to build the capabilities and abilities of the Palestinian security forces”.

He added: “I was so happy to hear the feedback from students who were benefited from this program professionally. I trust that they will apply what they learned on their organizations, and I was so happy to know that some students are already planning to continue their higher education in Human Resources and this indicates that this program is a success and that Arab American University has provided a quality program and a great follow up”.

He clarified that the training program of the Human Resources that was performed under collaboration with Arab American University and its experienced staff is part of the continuous joint partnership between the British Support Team and the Palestinian Security Services. He asked the Ministry of Interior and the Organization and Administrative Body to collaborate with the graduates and support them to apply what they learned and said that the British Support Team will keep its connections with the students to support them. 

He concluded his speech by appreciating the role of Arab American University as it provided the perfect and convenient educational environment to success this program and the best teaching methodologies by specialists.

A video was presented in the ceremony for the graduates talking about what benefits they got form the training program of Human Resources and their future plans. The ceremony was concluded by handing certificates to the graduates by Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri – the University President, General Yousef Dakhlallah- the Chairman of the Organization and Administration Body, Brig. Gen. Stephen Cartwright from the British Team Support.
