Arab American University has announced the development of a number of leading technology projects such as information network infrastructure (fiber optic network), increase internet speed and establish an indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi network at the university, that will start operating at the beginning of the new academic year 2018 / 2019.
These technological projects are part of the University's efforts to enhance the use of information, and facilitate access to information for all students and faculty members, and to enhance the efficiency of the educational process through the use of such information in communication between the educational institution, students and faculty members.
University Information Technology Assistant, Professor Bahjat Aissa said: “A fully integrated wireless network system, wireless network development and Wi-Fi service were installed at the university through the installation of 70 external pieces to cover the outer squares, and 130 internal pieces to cover the entrances of faculties and inner yards. As we have increased the speed of the Internet Bandwidth three times more than the current speed to become 1000Mbps, and will be ready to work by the beginning of the new academic year 2018/2019, adding that the rehabilitation of the infrastructure of information network is operated by installing a fiber optic network (Fiber) with a very modern and high specifications. As well as the installation of monitoring and protection systems through the installation of hundreds of internal and external cameras".
He explained that the development of these services carries several objectives, most important linking all buildings to the wireless network, covering most of the university's internal and external yards with Wi-Fi internet access, raising the efficiency and improving the internal information network at the university, protecting university data and enriching communication between faculty members, students and other university staff.
Mr. Aissa announced that soon, the university's will launch its mobile application for “Registration mobile applications”. Also a number of teaching aids have been developed and installed in some classrooms and computerization other programs that serve the educational process and academic quality to contribute to the development of various academic programs to enhance creativity and production culture among university students.
The President of Arab American University, Professor Dr. Ali Zidan Abu Zuhri thanked the University's Board of Directors, represented by the CEO, Dr. Yousef Asfour, for their contining support of project developments in the university, especially the technological part, and assured that this development of such projects will contribute to the development of the educational process through enhancing interaction between students and faculty members, providing e-learning, and supporting scientific research.
