The Arab American University team won its project submitted in the annual Palestine challenge for the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence for 2023 to represent Palestine at the GITEX International Exhibition in Dubai.
This came during the announcement of the winning projects by the Al-Nayzak Foundation for Supportive Education and Scientific Creativity, in a ceremony previously held in the city of Ramallah, in partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Supreme Council for Creativity, the Swedish Diakonia Foundation, and the Information Sciences Syndicate. The closing ceremony included an exhibition of a number of creative technological projects from various governorates of the country specializing in artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things.
The winner of the university graduation projects category was the project submitted by students at the Arab American University entitled “The Bracelet of Life” by student Ibrahim Zaid, and he will represent Palestine in the Arab Challenge in Dubai next month.
Student Zaid commented on the Life Bracelet project saying, “It is a project that works as a safety companion for swimmers. It uses artificial intelligence to predict drowning cases before they occur by monitoring vital signs. In the event of an emergency, the bracelet will immediately produce an alarm and send a warning to the savior or the parents.”
In turn, the Dean of Student Affairs at the Arab American University, Dr. Fadi Jumaa, extended his congratulations to the winning students, stressing that the University seeks to involve its students in various local and international events to enhance opportunities for exposure to the requirements of the growing market, expressing the University’s aspiration to win the regional competition that will include many Arab countries in Dubai next month.
