The Arab American University Hosts the Director General of the Turkish Golden Child Organization

The Vice President of the Arab American University - Ramallah Campus, Professor Dr. Mohammad Asia, and the Director of the Prosthetics and Orthotics Factory, Engineer Mustafa Irshaid, met with the representative of the Turkish delegation, the Director General of the Turkish Golden Child Organization, Mr. Ali Koyungu. This meeting aimed to enhance ways of cooperation, build a strategic partnership, and exchange technical and technological expertise in the field manufacturing and developing prosthetics, to provide services of the highest quality in this field, for the sake of helping the Palestinian people in such difficult circumstances they are living.

The meeting included an introductory tour of the largest and only prosthetics and orthotics factory in the Middle East, which is concerned with the field of manufacturing and providing high-quality limbs at the national and regional levels, due to the factory’s distinction in employing modern technology in this field, which contributes fundamentally to facilitating the daily life of patients who have lost one of their limbs.

For his part, Professor Dr. Mohammad Asia welcomed Mr. Ali Koyungu, presenting the most important achievements that the University has achieved, whether at the level of academic and educational programs or in the field of national community services in various fields, especially in the medical fields, which included the prosthetics and orthotics factory. Dr. Asia explained that the University has dedicated all the capabilities and modern technologies into this factory including international specifications that qualify it to provide the most distinguished and flexible services to patients who need artificial limbs.

Prof. Dr. Asia continued, “The University, with its entire staff, is looking forward to building diverse partnerships at all levels, and with all countries of the region, including the Republic of Turkey, which has been known for its support to the Palestinian people in terms of its humanitarian, medical, and societal needs.” He pointed out that AAUP is happy and proud to cooperate with the Golden Child Organization, whose ethical and humanitarian role is prominent in supporting and assisting patients in the field of prosthetics at the level of the Middle East.

In turn, the Director of the Prosthetics and Orthotics Factory, Engineer Mustafa Irshaid, provided the delegation with a comprehensive introductory overview of the Factory in terms of the modern educational aspect learnt by students, the precise rehabilitation process that the patient goes through until s/he gets accustomed to dealing with the artificial limb, and the national societal responsibility undertaken by the factory to serve our people, especially in light of the difficult circumstances that the Gaza Strip is going through.

He added that exchanging experiences and enhancing cooperation between the University and the Organization will have a positive impact on the University students in terms of the practical and educational aspects on the one hand, and serving humanity and the victims of accidents and wars on the other hand.

In the same context, the director of the Turkish Golden Child Organization, Mr. Ali Koyungu, praised the University and its national, educational and societal role, which has become tangible and clear within a short period of time. In light of the special circumstances that Palestine is going through, we see determination to serve the community by the University. He indicated that this visit is the first to the University, but it will not be the last as the University’s facilities and educational infrastructure deserve respect, support and development.

Mr. Koyungu stated, “I see that cooperation between the Organization and AAUP is an urgent necessity and inevitable since this partnership will serve humanity and children. Why not.” He also indicated that the Organization will provide artificial limbs to the injured Palestinians who have lost their limbs as a result of the difficult circumstance that the country is going through.

It is worth noting that the Turkish Golden Child Organization is a non-governmental organization concerned with providing its services to more than 15 countries in all humanitarian fields, including prosthetics provided to victims and patients whose limbs were amputated as a result of wars and conflicts.
