Researcher Abdallah Khalid Asali defense

Researcher Abdallah Khalid Asali, Arab American University student in the Conflict Resolution and Development program at the Faculty of Graduate Studies, defended his master thesis entitled “The Impact of Internal Palestinian Division on Palestinian Universities Students’ Political Awareness”.

He discussed the impact of the internal Palestinian division on political awareness among Palestinian universities students from the point of view of the student movement in the West Bank universities, the movement social, political and cultural role during the Palestinian struggle various stages and the division impact on student activities that aim to raise students’ political and cultural awareness.

From the international youth day celebration

In collaboration with the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Arab American University organized an interactive youth activity to celebrate International Youth Day, which falls on the 12th of August, with the slogan “Towards Free, National and Participation Youth”.

The activity aims to enhance the role of youth as key partners in building society. It included songs presented by the poets Sami Obaid and Obada Masad, in addition to Shababah playing by the artist Osama Jalamneh. The Zagal songs praised the Arab American University role and youth role in building the Palestinian society, with participation of university students.

Researcher Hasan Khalid Kameel, student in Conflict Resolution and Development Program at the Arab American University Faculty of Graduate Studies, defended his master thesis entitled “Hunger Strike in Palestinian Context from Activists Point of View”.

In his thesis, he talked about the hunger strike in Palestinian context from activists view, its achievements and constraints and how to benefit from international experiences in this matter. He concluded, Palestinian prisoners' movement is a social one and it lacks applying global theories for better achievements.

Part of Sari Hisham Abdallah thesis defense

Researcher Sari Hisham Abdallah, a student in Conflict Resolution and Development Program at Arab American University Faculty of Graduate Studies, defended his master thesis, entitled “Review Israeli Actions Against Immovable Property in the Occupied West Bank and the International Criminal Court Potential Role”.

In his thesis, researcher referred to Israeli practices during the period from 13/6/2014, the date of commencement of court jurisdiction until 15/3/2017, referring to practices which included annexation and confiscation of land and settlement activities in the West Bank. Mentioning, four case studies; Settlement Division, Blue Line Group, Law of Annexation the Illegal Settlements and random settlements such as Amouna, near Ramallah city.

Researcher Mohammad Rasheed Al-Atrash thesis defense

Researcher Mohammad Rasheed Al-Atrsahs, Commercial Law student at Arab American University Faculty of Graduate Studies, defended his master thesis titled “Court Supporting Role for the Jury in International and Internal Arbitration”.

He discussed the court's supportive role to the jury as it’s not considered a corrective or a mere oversight role in case of law violation, it’s a supporting role to arbitral tribunal authorized to adjudicate the dispute. This role is linked to the arbitral dispute in all its stages. Therefore, relationship between the court originally competent to consider the dispute and the arbitral tribunal is complementary relationship, each complements the other according to the rules of law to achieve better justice.

The Palestinian American Community Center delegation reception

A delegation from the Palestinian American Community Center in New Jersey visited the Arab American University Campus in Ramallah, to check it and its academic programs and discuss cooperation ways.

Director of the university campus in Ramallah Mr. Mohammed Saba'neh, gave them a detailed explanation about the university, its faculties and specializations in bachelor and master degrees, and its strategic programs that aims to graduate distinguished students to meet national needs in Palestine.

The two parties discussed ways of cooperation in programs that serves the Palestinian society and for volunteers from the Palestinian Community in the United States of America in their homeland Palestine.

An ambulance is always available

Arab American University and Palestinian Red Crescent celebrated the official signing of the agreement to build emergency center in the university main campus and provide an ambulance to serve the students and citizens in the university surrounding areas.

During the ceremony, University President Dr. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri and Red Crescent Society President Dr. Younis Al-Khatib signed the agreement in presence of the Society Director General Dr. Khalid Jawdeh, Dean of Faculties of Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences at the University Dr. Mohammad Asia and University PR Director Mr. Fathi Amour.

Researcher Abdulrahman Mohammad Nazzal Defense

Abdulrahman Mohammad Nazzal, a Conflict Resolution and Development program student at AAUJ Faculty of Graduate Studies, defended his master thesis titled “Transform the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict through Peaceful Popular Resistance”.

The researcher pointed that the thesis aimed to study the fundamental role of nonviolent popular resistance in transforming the Palestinian-Israeli conflict through every available peaceful mean and tool. He concluded, non-violent resistance have different definitions as international concept. The thesis indicates that there is a deep gap between peaceful resistance in the field on one hand and decision-makers on the other.

Visiting the university Sports Faculties and praise its universal specifications

The visit comes as part of the cooperation between Palestinian Olympic Committee and Arab American University to improve national sports.
