Defense of a Master’s Thesis by Muhannad Amarneh in the Data Science and Business Analytics Program

Researcher Muhannad Ahmed Amarneh, a student in the Master’s program in Data Science and Business Analytics, has defended his thesis titled “Predicting the Incidence of a Psychological Disorder (Anxiety, Depression and Stress) Using Machine Learning Algorithms.”

The present study aims to use machine learning algorithms to predict diagnoses of stress, anxiety and depression as the most common psychiatric disorders, using the dataset collected as part of this work. The dataset consisted of approximately 700 records using an online survey, which was based on the Depression, Anxiety and Stress International Scale (DASS21). The data was collected from Palestinian community participants and university students. To ensure the effectiveness of applying artificial intelligence algorithms, the data was processed before analyzing it.

Defense of a Master’s Thesis by Ahmad Al Khatib in the Data Science and Business Analytics Program

Researcher Ahmad Hassan Al Khatib, a student in the Master’s program in Data Science and Business Analytics, has defended his thesis titled "Explainable Deep Learning Methods for Neuroscience Data to Analyze the Extracted Features in The Hidden Layers"

In recent years, deep learning models have provided various applications in various fields, especially in the medical fields such as neuroscience. Thus, ensuring the interpretation of the results predicted by deep learning models has been an important challenge, especially exploring the hidden layers in these models, and this is called black box interpretation.

Defense of a Master’s Thesis by Ayser To’mi in the Data Science and Business Analytics Program

Researcher Ayser Maysara To’mi, a student in the Master’s program in Data Science and Business Analytics, has defended his thesis titled: “A Machine Learning-Based Analysis of the Impact of University Specialization on the Unemployment Rate.”

This research presented two models for classifying data on graduates in general, and data on some specializations in particular, by employment status (employed, unemployed). This was through applying machine learning algorithms to data from the Labor Force Survey carried out by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics.

The researcher created a classification model using five different algorithms - Random Forest, DT, XGBoost, KNN, and AdaBoost for graduate data in general, and three algorithms were applied to classify the data according to university specialization.

Defense of a Master’s Thesis in the Adult Nursing Program by Murad Jaghlab

Researcher Murad Jagalab, a student in the master’s program in adult nursing, defended his thesis titled: “The Impact of an Educational Program on Intensive Care Nurses’ Awareness and Practice of Risk and Prevention Factors for keratopathy in Unconscious Patients Connected to a Ventilator in Palestine.”

This study aims to evaluate the impact of an educational program on eye care on the awareness and practices of nurses working in intensive care regarding risk factors and prevention of keratopathy among ventilated and unconscious patients.

Visual complications in patients within the ICU may often go unreported, leading to potentially serious effects such as keratopathy resulting from exposure to the external environment. To reduce these risks, it is important to promptly recognize and prevent these problems and educate ICU nurses about them.
